NEXT 50

PURPOSE BACKGROUND THE DATA VOLUNTEERS WELCOMED
WHAT IS THE NEXT50 PROJECT ABOUT?
  • It is about canvassing Beechwood Park neighbours for their ideas & views on the NEXT 50 years!

  • We want to learn what changes to the programs, facilities, events, and activities would entice more neighbours to participate.

  • Understanding more about the interests of the people who live here will help us make decisions about the ‘right’ improvements and programs for the future.

  • We want future decisions to be based on a common vision for Beechwood Park community development.

HOW WILL WE ACCOMPLISH THIS?

Originally this was envisaged as a multi-year project commenced in 2020 and projected to run until 2024 (below). However, COVID slowed progress, heightened the board’s focus on operating the rec-centre during the pandemic, and delayed face to face member and local resident meetings. However, despite these barriers the NEXT50 team was able to complete the first exploratory phase, including a new timeline for the project. See NEXT50 EXPLORATORY PHASE: Key Learning & Recommendations for the revised timeline.

  • 2021 unfolded under the mantle of COVID, but we managed to pivot and successfully distilled three major aspirations and one major concern from all the data collected. The final report on the NEXT50 Exploratory Phase will be posted mid to late November. It contains a series of recommendations for members to consider during 2022, from which a new vision for the BPHA can emerge.

This project is sanctioned by the BPHA Board of Directors. Current team members include: Blit (Joel); Levert-Chiasson (Serge); MacGuire (Katie); Ratcliffe (Dianne & Bill); Wilkinson (Carole & Jim).
